@Nikki...U are welcome

@Kitkat... It's so easy to make! let me know ao it turns out

@Adiya...yeah..It's deep fried, so there is really no escaping the oil. what you can do is use healthy oil (Olive, Canola and the likes)

@Chizy K... awww... Happy I can bring back memories for ya.

@Naijaline..LMAO...indulgence doesn't make one fat, overeating does. if you think about all the "greasy " food we eat back home (buns, puff puff, chin chin, palm oiled everything e.t.c) pple are still not half as fat as Americans and that is because we do things in moderation back home.
PS: u r not Fat... ABI NO B UR PHOTO dey for blog... lol.

@Niajamum...Happy dance, I Cannot wait for the picture!!! too excited :). Yeiii happy u r happy for real.
hahah...Puff away your troubles sounds right :)

Ghen ghen i'm trying NOW but first off, i bought "Dried yeast" cos that's what I found in Sainsbury's and the direction on the can said i should mix it with lukewarm water and sugar blah blah and leave for 15mins before using as directed in the recipe i'm working with. I did that too and poured it into the flour, nutmeg and sugar mix in my bowl. By the time i poured the cup of lukewarm water little by little, it had lumps sha (u didn't say whether entirely fine or cld have lumps) sha sha, i tried to even out the lumps as much as I could. That was an hour ago. I just went to check it now and as i raised the kitchen cloth it had "risen" (that sounds so wrong) LOL! sha sha, will let you know how it turns out. i'm sooo excited already sef!

Beautiful said...

ok i must be very stupid, went back to check it now and it had "fallen". is dere any redemption or do i just throw it away and jejely go and eat rice and stew and continue writing my project in peace. I so will not start again from the beginning :(

9jaFOODie said...

@Beautiful...sorry my love, I am seeing this late.I have never tried dried yeast before :(.... did you fry it? how did it look?

Beautiful said...

LOL! my dear, at the end of the day, it looked like akara but it was sweet sha and everyone liked it. It just wasn't as fluffy as puff puff should be. Would try again in like 2 weeks time, my elder sis in Nig says i must have put too much yeast.

9jaFOODie said...

Eyah... sorry my dear. the yeast is the most important part, try getting self rising yeast next time, they have it in the baking aisle.

Cos u post beautiful mouth watering recipes here, i decided to pick one recipe every other week to make. This week i decided to make puff puff. I really should have read the comments. I just read the ingredients and procedure and then started the process. After waiting for 3hrs i realized the dough did not arise. Before panic sets in, I decided to go check again whether i missed out something. I Just went through the comments and saw that Beautiful had the same experience. I am pretty sure the yeast is not self-rise. Oh well, akara-puff here i come

9jaFOODie said...

hooo nooo...are you in the UK as well?? the yeast will have to be denoted "quick rise yeast" I will make a note in the recipe. Sorry boo.
