Indomie (Recipe #3)

Asian style Idomie with blanched spinach and spiced boiled egg

When I lived in the dorm in my 1st/2nd year of Uni, I had a couple of Asian friends. the way they cooked their noodles inspired this creation.

Ingredient
Fresh spinach leaves (as much or little as you want)
1 packet indomie noodles
1 egg (boiled)
A pinch each of (Basil, oregano, sage,thyme and rosemary) or use premade Italian seasoning mix if you have some

Direction
  • Half the boiled egg, sprinkle the spices on it and set in the fridge
  • Place 1.5cups water on heat, set to boil. once the water starts to boil add in the indomie spice that come with the noodles. Add the spinach into the boiling liquid, blanch for 1min. Remove the spinach and set aside
  • Now add the noodles to the boiling broth, cook the indomie as instructed on the packet( you don't want the indomie to be dry, some broth left over is good)
  • Serve your noodle with the spinach, eggs and any other cooked protein of your choice (in my case duck drumstick)

errrm... if you sprinkle the ingredients on the egg and put it in the fridge, wouldn't that mean u'll be eating raw thyme and the other orishirishi on the egg?

Taking out the spinach after blanching and cooking the noodles in the broth is something i would love to try...i just throw EVERYTHING in a pot of cold water and let them sort themselves out, lol

I love how simple and healthy this is

Yes you will be, they are spices/herbs. they don't have to be cooked again since they are already dehydrated. Taking out the spinach is good, you get the nice color and you retain a lot more nutrient. Thanks much for your comment!!!

hmmmm...i can eat the chicken and egg sha but you the spinach ehn? :DD sorry, don't like noodles, but my kids do, i use green peas, cow peas, sardine, fried or boiled egg, gizzard or meat or stew to mix it. atimes, simply plain like that.

Tried indomie recipe #2, it was yum.
Spinach is not my thing but i might try cooking indomie in the way you suggested and see how it turns out.

Really nice
I use frozen chopped spinach...
The noodles come out with little specks of green. Really yum

Re: my favourite recipe...I would love to send it to you but there's no way I can make it before weekend :(((

This is pretty similar to my go-to indomie recipe! I love indomie but worry that it's nutritionally lacking so on those evenings when I'm starving and need something tasty and quick I make indomie and toss in a boiled egg and a bunch of spinach in the last couple of minutes of cooking - that way I figure I've got my protein and veg too :)

Why does that egg slice have your name across it? lol
I have re-fallen in love with Indomie since I came here. and I agree with you, watching Asians in my house make noodles has inspired me to do all sorts with mine. And when I miss Naija food, a dash of crayfish transports me back to Lagos.
