I made this soup recently and saw pepper. I bought dried bitter leaf from the African store and after soaking in hot water, I was about to put in the soup when I just said, hey let me taste it. Turns out it wasn't washed! LOL...I had to put off the heat and spend the next 30mins washing bitter leaf. SMH..

ps..the soup turned out fantastic though :)

Now I see the twist,I've tried it with Oha also,I so enjoyed it. Meanwhile, for ‎‎me and my household(we will serve the Lord,‎ℓ☺ℓ) haha,we thoroughly wash the bitter leaf till there's no bitter taste. My mum scrubs and extracts some foamy substance(no bi beans o) but this soup is FANTASTIC.

Btw, I hope ‎you try Efik/Ibibio soups very soon, that one I go "remof" cap for u

Poor woman, thought she was trying to be nice not knowing I never even opened that bag a second time.

You need to try out the recipe, the soup of awesome. The bitter leave is not overpowering.
